About Seminar

The contemporary literary scenario is marked with multifaceted interdisciplinary approaches. Traditionally fixed norms of literary text and literary studies have drastically changed and are at the verge of losing authenticity. The concept of authenticity itself is not fixed as no static set of cultural, political values is available for the critics. The society and individual appear to have been split between recognition of fluidity and temptation of fixity for the sustenance of societal and individual entities. This consistent shift of fixity and fluidity raises questions against the pragmatic values of literary theory.
Literary theory comes from various kinds of disciplines: linguistics, psychology, anthropology, philosophy, history, economics, gender studies, ethnic studies and political science. Much of what falls under the heading of ‘Literary Theory’, like Mary Klages, the scholars argue, has little to do directly with what we call ‘literature’. On the other hand it is argued that Literary Theory aids the reading of text(s) and, in a way, enhances the literariness. We, the Department of English, N S Patel Arts College, Anand, are glad to organize a UGC Sponsored Two-day National Seminar on “Triangulation of Literary Theory, Text and Literariness” to discover, analyze and exhibit the interconnectedness of ‘Literary Theory’, ‘Text’ and ‘Literariness’.
Aim:
This seminar aims at providing platform to research scholars for an analytical study of triangulation of ‘Literary Theory’, ‘Text’ and ‘Literariness’, wherein a researcher will expectedly study, analyze and understand the peculiarities of a Literary Theory through its application to a selected text with a view to examine its interconnectedness with literariness.
Objectives:
1.To analyze principles and peculiarities of a selected literary theory.

5.To examine its interconnectedness with literariness.
